Eligibility
- You may apply with a total of 80 points or more
- Students on D-2 or D-10 do not receive income points
- Work visa holders on E-7-1 or D-10 do receive income points
- The higher your score, the longer the period of stay you can be granted
Disqualifications
- Fines for Immigration Act violations reduce your score
- A criminal record of a fine or heavier reduces your score
- A deportation record reduces your score sharply
- Tax arrears or an overstay record can also count against you in the separate review
